The Atlantic brant is a small goose that is often found in the Chesapeake
Bay. Brant usually arrive in the fall and remain until early spring. Brant
prefer shallow saltwater coves and bays with submerged aquatic vegetation.
Similar in appearance to Canada geese, brant can be identified by their black
head, neck, and fronts. Another identifying feature is a cream-colored crescent
on the neck.
